I'm new to this list and wanted to join and say "Hello". Recently, I found & searched this list for information about my bud Jake's adrenal disease. Thanx for all your 'help' although at the time ya didn't even know ya were doin' so, eh?!?

Here's my inquiry: How long after introducing a new fert into one's home before you can begin to relax about ECE? 2 years ago, a few days after bringing home my female albino Molly (as an 8 weeks old kit), my 4 y.o. male Cinnamon Jake came down with ECE (all the classic signs & about 4 days of round the clock feedings & care!!). Jake recovered but later developed adrenal disease & recently I had to help him to cross the Bridge :o(. 4 days ago we brought home J.T., a MF male sable, about 8 weeks old. (BTW-I hated to give money to MF, I disagree with their neutering these little guys so young. But I saw J.T. in the store I fell in love!) Anyhow, J.T. has not shown any signs of ECE, but Molly has had 2 or 3 stools with a bit of green mucous on them, but otherwise firm and of regular color (do fert folks know 'poop' or what?!?). She has good appetite & energy with no vomiting or diarrhea. She is gradually warming up to J.T. and tonight they are playing together like old friends!

My thought is that Molly carried ECE 2 years ago, but never had the disease, or maybe had symptoms prior to coming into our home. I believe she infected Jake. I was concerned that J.T. would either bring in a stronger strain to infect Molly, or that he might become infected by "carrier" Molly. Except for the slight green mucous, neither has shown other symptoms (as of tonight). When do ya folks think I can reduce my "poop patrols"?!? Thanx in advance for any options & Merry Season's Greetings to All!!
