Dear Patti:

No, I doubt that taking her off te prdnisone (provided she dowsn't also have an undiagnosed insulinoma will cause any problem.

Just want to clear up what may be a misconception. I don't know if this was an incomplete spay that you have described. Female ferrets with adrenal disease and high levels of circulating estrogens will develop what we call stump pyometra - even though an adequate spay has been done, the small remnants of the uterus can, under the influence of estrogen, develop an infection.

I wouldn't want to unfairly indict either a breeder or a vet for doing a poor job on the spay - it is likey they did a perfectly adequate job but were the victims of circumstance....
