Subject: Bland diets post helicobactor and ulcers?

I was wondering how common or uncommon is it for a ferret to have classic
helicobactor with mild ulceration (not confirmed by biopsy though), to go
through three weeks of biaxin/amoxy/carafate (and reacting quickly and
favorbly to the treatment) to seem to need the bland diet long after? I
realize that a bland diet is necessary for a month. But it's been six or
more weeks. My ferret is better, gained some weight back, acts fine, tries
to eat kibble, etc. When he eats nothing but kibble, it seems like he only
eats to get by, doesn't drink a lot, and stools get runny. When I give him
chicken baby food he is better. I notice that he sometimes grinds towards
the end of the meal also(though not always). This surprises me.
So how common is this? Does he need a bland diet for an extended period
and how long? Also if I have him on baby food chicken, what do I add so that
he gets necessary vitamins and nutrition without adding to an upset stomack?
I have a friend in Ga, who is also going through this with her ferret (but
hers is a much worse case scenario). She will also benefit from any advice,
guidence, or suggestions here.
