No reason to think it would hurt. It might help, but it's not sure if it does, yet, I gather. I think it is one of the things Dr. Jerry Murray is investigating now.

It might make them a bit groggy at first till their bodies adjust to the time when they are getting it, but I doubt they will be operating any heavy machinery, using welding torches, or driving.

You can acheive the same thing by providing true darkness for many hours each day -- truly dark sleeping places when they want to rest during their play hours (black polar fleece blankets, dark sleep sacks that you can't see light through which are large enough to droop closed at the open end, bedding under a platform bed, sleeping boxes with beddign inside, etc) as well as dark places over night (no night lights, no appliance lights, no lights coming in from window,etc.). The body produces its own melatonin in darkness but even a little bit of light greatly cuts down the amount produced by a decent amount.
