Subject: anal leakage ?

As a background - Snidely started losing weight around the time of the normal spring shed. But when he expressed other discerning symptoms as well (lethargy, weak hind end and lack of appetite) I took him to see his doctor. The vet said she saw no cause for concern, even though his CBC showed slighly elevated proteins, low phos & low potass, but extremely elevated calcium (14.0 - fasting). May 2002

Since then he has all but stopped eating his Totally Ferret and is now being fed turkey & cream with pro-biotic supplement.

Last night when I went to wake him for his feeding, I noticed his back legs and tail looked "greasy". There was no distinct odor. When I lifted and examined him, I found that the oily substance was leaking from his anus. When I put him down to poop, it came out very pale yellow and the texture of very thick pudding (of course, his is on a cream diet).

What is this? I just lost a ferret in May to IBD, could I be dealing with it again even though the symptoms are quite different?

Thanks for any thoughts you might have ~
