Whenever one of our's has a persistent or a marked cough we ALWAYS get a chest x-ray even if the vet can't hear anything wrong or the ferret is active. We caught a case of pneumonia with pluerosy in a darling elderly girl that way, and we do like to check their hearts on and off past a certain age which the same x-ray helps do.
