IF you want to read a good article on IBD go to Dr. Williams site
http://www.afip.org/ferrets/

Chloremphenical I believe is used to treat a disease in ferrets called
Proliferative
colitis, it is usually frequent pooping that is painful and often
bloody, and mucoid.

IF you are really considering IBD antibiotics are not the treatment. In
fact, antibiotics
can cause diarrhea and should only be used to treat specific infections (
IMHO).
The bland diet you describe is good, next were stool tests and blood
tests done? Prednisone would also be a treatment in IBD.
Last step is to consider surgery for biopsies.

Maybe try to change the diet so there is no chicken in it, try the lamb,
veal
or turkey baby foods, and try Science z/d from the vet-
some people think IBD is an allergy to chicken or something in the food.

I have heard some people report real canned pumpkin helps with diarrhea,
maybe search the archives for references to this, I would be leary to try
this until you know the cause first.
