Actually benign simply means they typically grow slowly and don't tend
to metastasize - not that they are safe to leave alone.

Look at it this way - the owner is not going to know for *sure* what
this is and whether or not it is actually benign unless at least a
biopsy is done. Excision would be the best for the ferret if he can
stand the surgery.
