There aren't many posting rules but they are expected to be followed. Here are a few off the top of my head; you'll have gotten the rest on joining and can infer a number from the nature of existing posts.
If you are adding a photo and it doesn't relate to an on-going medical discussion, make sure that the notifying box is clicked to "off".
What you quote is to be no longer than what your message. For example if you have a five line reply don't quote someone else's 8 lines. If you have a three word reply don't quote someon't else's 10 words. (You will have noted that we allow vets and other experts leeway in this regard, but that does not extend to the rest of us.) The one exception is if the most clear way for you to reply is to quote an expert's much earlier post or posts on the topic, though you can alternatively give the URL of that message. For those who don't know, our librarian and co-moderator, Pam Sessoms and her kind hubby worked extensive hours to provide us all with
http://fhl.sonic-weasel.org/
which is a very easily searched archive of past FHL posts.
The list is not here for political reasons so take such posts elsewhere, please, to avoid rejections.
Names of vets and hospitals can not be mentioned in the same posts that discuss treatments, diagnoses, etc.
It's good to have posts that recommend vets and give their locations and contact info, but if their identities are mentioned in relation to the services and choices they made it could get unnecessarily embarrassing for a vet at some point. In the beginning we allowed such mentions but they were misused by an early member; like most of our few rules this one arose due to misuse which no one had anticipated.
The list is not here to advertise or to bash.
Moderators have the right to reject any post; if rejected then figure out how to re-write it to fit the rules.
We have one double rule (counts twice) and that is to be kind to one another. It's fine to disagree on points, but insults or what seems to us to be inflicted pain are not allowed.
If you ever hear from any third party that we didn't like your post remember that if your post was approved then by definition we approved of it' it's as simple as that. No one else speaks for us and no one else is permitted to speak for us.
We expect copyrights to be respected.
The six of us are very accessible folks who give a lot of time to this effort and been doing so together for over a year, so, please, realize that we do have good reasons for our decisions.
If you haven't read your joining materials with the rules, please, do so now.
