Prednisone sometimes works better if given two or three times a day, even with the same dose.

We have found Proglycem, which has a blood-glocuse raising effect like Prednisone does, to be a helpful additional medication along with Prednisone.

Normally, when a ferret is otherwise up to surgery as per the pre-surgical testing and observation, we find surgery (and even repeat surgeries) to be most effective.

I am not a vet, just someone with long ferret experience.
