Another good treatment for IBD is Imuran.
I have several ferrets with IBD, and usually start with Pediapred, then when they start to build a resistance to that, move to Imuran, and if that ceases to be effective, use a conbination of both. There are other medicines that can also help with treating IBD, and sometimes it is just a matter of finding which one works best for the particular ferret.
However, it is a good idea to confirm that it is actually IBD before starting treatment for IBD. This can only be done with a bowel biopsy or endoscopic proceedure. So, it is probably a good idea to discuss the options with your vet.
