Have you had him checked for IBD? IBD does not always manifest itself as watery stools, and in some cases, stools can even appear almost normal but there is weight loss.
If you haven't read Dr. Burgess's article on IBD, the one from the AFR, you might want to take a look at it. It was in the files section of the old FHL, so I assume it has been moved over to this site as well.
