Michelle,

I'm afraid I can't answer your question, but I can give you a couple of
insights. Animals will often back up as they vomit, as if to get away
from it. That results in a "line" of vomit rather than a pool.

If you keep Muddy in a cage for a while, you may be able to catch him
doing this. It may seem cruel if he stays out all the time, but if it
is necessary for his health, it is worth it.

ECE often causes bright green slimy stools or diarrhea, but as I
understand this happens at the beginning and soon passes. You should
not see that symptom over a couple of months, and not intermittently.

Is there any way he could be getting into household chemicals or
something else that could be bad for his health? If he did you might
see poor digestion and strange stools.

If he is indeed vomitting, he may have a hairball or partial blockage.
Ferrets aren't known for vomitting regularly. Are his other stools
normal looking and a good size? A partial blockage can also cause
smaller-than-normal stools.

It sounds like whatever is going on, you need to get Muddy in to his
vet for a look. If you can collect one of the green discharges, that
will be a big help in diagnosing his problem.
