KC,

Mast cell tumors in ferrets are almost never malignant (unlike in some other members of carnivora). I think there is something like one maliginant one on record.

Nor due they tend to cause complications in ferrets. They do cause itching and the ferrets are much more comofortable without them.

I am sure that there will be more replies about this, but let your vet know that a quick check will show that they aren't the scare in ferrets that they are in some other animals.
