Very good point, Sukie.
Over the years, I have had several that I have had problems with. I have never had a neutered or spayed ferret that went in their bedding, but some that would not use the pan when they were outside of the cage. In all cases, positive reinforcement has been the key to correcting behavior.
Now, I will admit that I now have several that will constantly climb into the litterbox and do nothing just to get positive attention and treat, but I prefer that over them not using the litterbox at all.
