I don't have a story about hairloss from grief, but of the two females
I had with adrenal, both of them had hair loss, and none had a swollen
vulva. The hair loss did cycle on one and actually came back real
nice until the next season when it almost all fell out.
So, I would say it is most likely to be adrenal that has cycled and
may see it worse next season. I would keep a close eye on
her. Which I am sure is not what you wanted to hear.

BTW I went to three vets when the hair loss was minor and they
all said could be adrenal, but since she was new to my home and
was not sure about diet and other factors, they wanted to wait.
By the following season ( fall to spring) she had rapidly lost
not only the fur from before but most along her rump and back.
She grew it all back after Lupron and now has a swollen vulva
and no hair loss, go figure. She otherwise seems fine, since the
Lupron is not working so great she will have surgery if my vet
thinks it o.k. ( due to her age) or a higher dose of Lupron. The
other ferret had surgery and I prefer surgery since it seems to be
a better fix, and Lupron is more like a patch that just covers up
the underlying problem. Plus I ended up spending almost the same on
Lupron after a year that I did on surgery.
