Something that is quick and easy as a soft food is chicken or turkey baby food. I always keep several jars on hand for emergencies. It stores well, and has a long shelf life. Baby food is high protein and is easy to digest. Sometimes I thin it with water, and then I can feed it with a dropper. I frequently give my ferrets tastes of the thinned food as a treat, so when they are sick they are already used to the taste.
