Subject: Teeth Cleaning and annual shots

I'm taking one of my kids in to get his teeth cleaned Wednesday. He's about 5
yrs old, insulinomic on pred 2xday and on amoxi for a bad tooth. Has had
surgery for insulinoma, considering another. I took him to have his BG
checked and found that he needed his teeth cleaned. This is not the vet who
did the surgery. This vet didn't suggest having blood work done prior to the
teeth cleaning. I called and asked about it. She said that he didn't need to
be under that long so it's not necessary but that she would get blood when
she did have him under and give him his annual shots at the same time. I told
her that I was afraid that the whole ordeal might be a bit much on his system
and that I would at least like to space the shots out. She said it wasn't
necessary, everything would be OK. She doesn't buy into the spacing the shots
out.
My question. What do you think about blood work prior to the cleaning not
being mentioned, would you have it done, and would you have the shot or shots
given at the same time? I know most would space them out. I'm going to tell
her that I would at least like that done.
Thanks!
