It could very well just be a change of coat. Some ferrets change color quite a bit when they go from winter to summer coat (or vice versa). Certainly keep an eye on this area for any change that occurs that causes skin to begin to show.
By the way, temperature has no bearing on them changing from their summer to winter coat. This seasonal change occurs based on the number of hours of daylight.
