Hi Lois,
I don't mean to scare you, but I recently went through this. My Nyla
had a huge spleen and was lethargic. When we ran blood tests it came
back that she was anemic. The spleen was large enough and the anemia
led my vet to remove her spleen where he found that it had ruptured
in two places days before the surgery. This was the cause of the
anemia (internal bleeding). Also, her spleen was large enough that
if she had jumped from a semi-high place, like the couch, she could
have ruptured it further which probably would have been fatal.
Please ask your vet to look more closely as to why Snowball's spleen
is so big and what is causing the anemia.
