Ever since Pam & Melissa had adrenal surgery 5/30/02, I have had them on du=
ck soup (at first) and now chicken baby food with mashed Marshall kibble. =
Pam is on Prednisone and I give her medicine 2 times a day mixed with appro=
x. 1 tsp of baby food. Then while she's eating that, I take a about 3 tbls=
of kibble in a cup, add water and microwave for 20 sec. Mix the rest of th=
e jar of baby food to the mushy kibble. By this time Pam is done with her =
first course, (the medicine/food combo) and both ferrets share the rest of =
the food. I do this 3 times a day, (the medicine part 2 times a day). The=
y eat everything! Should I be feeding them more often than 3 times a day? =
Pam looks good (with the exception of no hair and large lymph nodes). She=
has a lot of energy! Melissa has gained over 1/2 lb. and is very sluggish=
. Depressed looking. Sometimes I hear her sigh when she is urinating. I =
do not think she likes it when I squeeze her belly. When she lays on her b=
ack in her hammock, her belly is looks like a water balloon. Also, she wil=
l walk a few steps and lay down. She is eating a lot, is bright eyed, goes=
to the bathroom a lot, and has gotten all of her hair back. I never see e=
ither of them drink any water, but I put a lot of water in their food. I h=
ad them away on vacation with me for 3 weeks and the temps were around 80* =
in the house. I have contributed that to her sluggishness, along with the =
fact the she is heavier and older. Also, she has had a few coughing - cong=
ested moments, but nothing I hear continuously. Should I change her eating=
habits? They will not touch kibble anymore (would rather starve) although=
I keep it out. And they are both 7 years old.
What is your opinion on the amount of food and what do you think abou mushy=
Melissa? Your opinions are appreciated. Thank you, and sorry this was so=
long. =
