Have a question for those knowlegeable about IBD. My ferret Gizmo got ECE 1 1/4 years ago, that has turned into IBD which has been treated on and off with dexamethasone when it flares up. It always seems to control it, but recently he can be finished with a round of dex and within 2 days the diahrrea is back. I called his vet yasterday and he said to do another round, and then keep him on the dex every other day from now on. Is long term steroid use in ferrets dangerous. His dosing protocol is dex 1/4 tablet twice a day for 1 week then once a day for a week.
