Hi Everyone,

I have posted on here before pertaining to weight loss in our two
ferrets. We have since changed the food and they seem to be doing
better. This evening, I was in the ferret room and I heard Freak (4 yrs
of age) making a gagging sound. I picked him up and looked in his mouth
(not an easy feat! LOL). I saw a piece of black string stuck in his
mouth. I think it went all the way down his throat but I can't be sure.
I know he should be taken to a vet but I thought I would try and get
some advice tonight and call a ferret experienced vet in the morn. My
main question is should I try and pull the string out (will it cause
more damage than it's worth?) or should I give him something to help him
swallow it and eventually allow him to pass it? I know blockages are
serious in ferrets so I will call a vet in the am but I was hoping I
could do something to relieve his discomfort tonight. I also gave him
some ferretvite and he ate it with gusto. So his appetite is still
good.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
Brenda
