I have been dealing with IBD in several ferrets now for several years, and each one has something different that seems to work best. I am mostly using either Imuran or prednisone, or both. Some of them do well on a maintenance dose, and others have occasional flares even with daily meds. I have one that has flare-ups about every 3 months, and needs a 10 day go round of antibiotics (either flagyl or baytril). Both my vet and I are puzzled by this, but it always does the trick. We have tried increasing the pred and Imuran with her, to no avail. I also try to find foods that are less irritating to the digestive tract.
