Subject: Re: Vaccinations for ferret with EG

Maggie (4 year old MF) has been diagnosed with insulinoma and inflammatory bowel disease, specifically eosinophilic gastroenteritis. It is now time for her annual vaccinations.
In reading posts here and on the FML I’m concerned about vaccinating her when she has this illness. I gather that the EG. puts her in a compromised position that may worsen if I have her vaccinated but I may be misunderstanding the information.
I would consider skipping the rabies and only doing the distemper but Maggie has a bad habit of biting. When people come to the house she keeps away from them but I do have one or two friends that she does like to see but will nip during her manicures.
Any input is appreciated. I’ve rescheduled her appointment for next week.

PS: Maggie is one of the few ferrets that hates z/d and will only eat if hand fed chicken gravy with ground up z/d added.
