Subject: Pepto vs. Imodium?

Some of you may remember that I posted a couple weeks ago about my
ferret Sarah who had a very high fever, irregular rapid breathing and
wasn't eating. We suspected pneumonia and treated her with amoxi and
baytril. Her temperature has normalized, as has her breathing over
time. We've done follow up xrays and bloodwork and it looks like we
are on the right track regarding her recovery, however in the last
few days, she started having diarrhea and vomiting. She is still
only eating chicken gravy which I hand feed her. My vet suspects
this is in response to the long term use of antibiotics, its been a
little over a month. So we stopped the amoxi yesterday (we d/c'd the
baytril about a week ago) and started giving her carafate, imodium
(.5 cc 2x daily) and bene-bac pet gel every other day to try to get
her digestive system normal again. Does this sound like the right
approach to you guys? Any other ideas? Also, I noticed in searching
the archives that alot of people use pepto. Do you recommend that
instead or in addition to the imodium?

Thanks for any ideas and help. Lucie
