Subject: First there was adrenal, then there were seizures, now ???

Hi,

My youngest ferret, a three year old, extremely petite chocolate sable
spayed female named Romana, had left adrenal surgery in late November.
She has grown a beautiful new coat of hair and has gained weight, but
her vulva is still very swollen.

Last month out of the blue she started having seizures, having two or
three a week for about three weeks. Her activity level dropped
dramatically. Her blood sugar was normal even after after a seizure, so
insulinoma was ruled out. My vet suspected epilepsy. Then, for no
obvious reason (and after no medical treatment by my vet) the seizures
stopped and her activity level returned to normal.

Should I be worried, or shouldn't I? What would cause seizures,
including some pretty severe ones, to start and then stop? Are they
likely to return? The only remaining symptom of anything is that her
vulva is still swollen. My vet recommends "watchful waiting", which is
what we are doing.

I guess I just don't like mysteries when it comes to my ferrets'
health. My experience with mystery ailments is that they usually end up
diagnosed as something nasty in the long run. Am I worrying for
nothing?

Thanks for your ideas and input.

All the best,
Caity
