Subject: Klondike's even worse - seizure?

Klondike has had a rough night of it....very labored
breathing. Noticed a little while ago that he seemed to be
breathing easier. Just ten minutes ago, though, I heard him
breathing hard again in his pen. Checked on him, and he was
foaming at the mouth. I've been holding him for ten minutes,
and he's been foaming at the mouth the entire time, very rapid
shallow breathing, poofed tail, urinating, very scared. Is
this a seizure of some sort, or is his spleen actually cutting
off his air supply or something? I've never had a ferret
seizure before, so wouldn't recognize it. Klondike is
scheduled for exploratory surgery Thursday (and having his
spleen removed), but I don't know if he (or I) can last that
long. If you have any idea what this is, please email me
directly ASAP. I'm calling the vet clinic in the morning to
see if there's any chance of Klondike getting in tomorrow, but
I don't hold out much hope of that because the vet's schedule
was booked solid.

I could really use your advice. If you email me after 8,
please send your email to deb.utter@pminsco.com.

I have no idea what I'm working with here, or how urgent this
is. Do I dare leave him alone for work, or should I stay home
with him? If this is a seizure, and he has another one when
I'm not home, will he be alright?

Thank you for your help!
