Subject: Klondike's necropsy results
Klondike's necropsy was done this afternoon. It was not his
spleen that was so big......it was his liver. Vet said it was
HUGE! Other than its size, it looked perfectly normal.
Medical writeup says results of necropsy are as follows:
NSAF grossly except liver is markedly and diffusely enlarged
but homogeneous in color and texture. Possible fatty liver
syndrome? Sample did not float in formalin however.
I was asked if I wanted to send a piece of liver for
histopath, hoping that will give us some answers, and I
agreed. We won't have answers for about a week or so.
Hopefully, that will provide some answers. If it doesn't, I
have no idea what happened to Klondike. During the necropsy,
vet checked pancreas, adrenals, etc. and everything looked
normal. No tumors. Just this huge liver. I couldn't have
any tissues sent off for pathology....apparently, he doesn't
do that. So if the histopath on the liver doesn't show
anything unusual, I'll never know what happened, or if the
hind leg paresis he's had for the last two and a half weeks
was related.
When I explained that toward the end of Klondike's seizure he
was frightened by my hand when I pet him, he said that sounded
neurological. Does anyone have any idea what this could've
been?
I'll post results of the histopath when I get them.
