Thanks, Dr. Murray. That's *exactly* what I wanted to know! Would fat/fatty acid supplements help them meet their nutritional requirements in these cases, or would that irritate their GI tracts more?

As it happens, I have been getting them back to regular kibble the past few days, and their stools are looking better than ever.
