Hi everyone,

I think it was Sukie that forwarded a message to the FML pertaining
to seedy stools. I didn't see the original message on here or any of
the other ones in that thread. I'd like to share my experience with
a ferret with loose stools.

I adopted Potter from KiSta in February, 2001. He came to the
shelter severely neglected and malnurished, weighing approximately
22oz. He nearly died, but with Kim's love and support, Potter made a
complete recovery. When I met him, he had returned to a much more
healthy weight. However, he had chronic seedy stools. I learned
this indicated that he was not digesting his food properly. Another
shelter director, Barb Clay @ Rocky's Ferret Rescue, told me about
Nutri-Drops (jeffers.com). They are an oral suppliment that helps
aid digestion and ease stress. I put one drop in each 8oz bowl of
water in the ferret cages. I've done this since summer, 2001 and
have seen positive results in all the ferrets. Within a few weeks,
Potter's stools began being less seedy. Within a few months, they
were healthy like the other ferrets'. Almost a year after adopting
him, Potter is now a big bundle of joy... he weighs 3 lb 2 oz... not
bad for a Marshall Farm early nueter.
