The prostate is an internal organ. You cannot see it. In fact, I
understand that in ferrets with a normal prostate, it can even be
difficult to find during surgery.

It sounds more like Max may have a prolapsed rectum, which could be
brought on by diarrhea. Or, an impacted scent gland or tumor of some
sort.

In any case, a visit to your vet is in order.
