Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Re: Deaf Ferret?

Hi, everyone,

Our Pertwee is stone deaf. Our vet tried a range of sounds on him as a
kit. Nyssa was there at the time and some of the noise startled her.
Pertwee just sat there. We can run the vacuum and he's the only fert
who ignores it. In the two and a half years since we took him in he has
never reacted to any sound so far as we can tell.

I'd do what my vet did to check: everything from squeaky toys, banging
on pans, whistling, whatever you can think of to check a wide range of
pitches that your suspected deaf fert might hear.

All the best,
Caity
