My vet doesn't like using the injectable steroids. He says it is harder
for him to control the dosage and make adjustments as needed. This has
been a critical issue for Ryo-Ohki. We've had a devil of a time getting
her electrolytes in balance. Pertwee also had to have dosages adjusted
as his body weight returned to normal. (He had lost a lot of weight.)
A 3-4 week dosage doesn't allow for fine tuning.
We give our ferts their meds twice a day. Pertwee actually looks
forward to it since he knows it is followed by Bob Church's chicken
gravy, which he absolutely loves. He knows when med/gravy time is, and
he's always awake and eager :) I don't find squirting a couple of
syringes of medication into his mouth that big a deal.
