I have read that ferrets are lactose intolerant. Does the

I was told never to give ferretvite to a ferret with

Can someone tell me what a/d is?

I had always thought the same thing Renee about the cream.
It's interesting. Two weeks ago, my Gus had a partial
pancreatectomy. The week after surgery, he was refusing to eat
including his soup (which I might add, he has always been iffy
on despite getting it every day). He went from 2 lbs down to
1.3 lbs in that week. After hearing so much about heavy cream,
I bought some. Figured, what the heck! I added a simple
teaspoon to his soup (1 ice cube's worth of soup). The kid
stuck his head in the bowl and chowed! Couldn't believe my
eyes. A week later (Friday), we went in for suture removal and
a BG. Fabulous news...his BG was 119 (from a low of about 30
when he crashed and was in a coma 3 days before Christmas) AND
he weighed in at 2 lbs exactly!!! That little bit of cream did
not give him diarrhea and it did help put that weight back on!

A/D is a meat that is given to sick animals when they don't
eat. It's mostly water however and so, at least from what my
vet is telling me, it's nutrients are not good for the long
term as a basic food. I've read the ingredients on the side of
the can and it has a78% moisture content and only 8.5% protein
and 5.23% fat. Many times animals won't eat but will eat the
A/D. I always keep a can in my "pharmacy" cupboard. As for the
ferrevite? I don't use it myself as it has sugar in it but
many soup recipes seem to call for it because of the many
vitamins/minerals it contains.

Please correct me (like I don't know it might be corrected )
if what I'm saying doesn't jive with what some of the others
on this know/think.
