Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Ferrets with the FLU

When our Ten Terrors got the flu, in addition to the antibiotics we
used a cool air mister and hand fed them gatoraid so they would not
dehydrate. We did not bath them or let them get a breeze or chill.
they got "duck soap" and we kept them quite. lol. It took 14 days
for them to get back to normal. Whew! We kept medicine charts so
we knew who had what and when and certain ferrets were assigned to
each of our daughters so noone had to look after everyone. A three
ring circus but they all did well except for a little albino whom we
had to force feed for almost three weeks before she began to rally.
Perseverance and patience pays off. Keep your chin up they will be
OK. :)

I tried as hard as can be, but I failed. I had a bout with the
flu & now my babies are all sick. I called the vet. The ferrets
are all on Amoxicillian & Clorpheniramine Maleate. Well, they
seem to be getting worse! WHAT ELSE CAN I DO FOR MY BABIES? They
are breaking my heart! I even bout "Ferret Rx" an over the
counter upper-respitory remedy... No help at all.
Thank you for any help you can give me. I think we will all be
going to see the vet today if he can squeeze us in.
