Subject: Lupron Questions

Jess my second ferret started treatment on Lupron last week. The
other, Riley was diagnosed in August and I learned to give him the
200mcg doses myself (Dr. Regan divided the 7.5mg depot my parents got
from their Abbott rep into 33 frozenn 200mcg premixed syringes). But
Jess is a lot smaller than Riley and I am not as cofortable giving
her the injections. I have read that most vets uses 4 month depots
for ferrets and I was wondering if there was a way to make a 4 month
injection out of the already mixed lupron or whether I have to wait
until I run out and just make sure I get a 30mg 4 month depot to
divide up next year.

A second question:

Is it a mistake to use hormone therapy as initial treatment, how
concerned should I be about malignancy or LH/FSH independant androgen
production. Are there any signs I should be looking for as early
detection of these possibilities other that the standard adreanal
symptoms or the ever so expensive androgen test.

Thanks
Rob
