Subject: My Ferret needs Depends
Hello All:
I have a six year old male fuzzy who has an embaressing
problem. He leaks. Now this wouldn't be so bad except he is
my best lap fuzzy and frankly I am getting annoyed when he
leaks on me right after I have taken a shower. Also, Odo
licks himself which can't be all that healthy. By way of
history, Odo had a serious prostate/bladder infection earlier
this year with lots of pus and mucous. he also had all of the
classic signs of adrenal disease. After we cleared up the
infection with Baytril, Odo had adrenal surgery. The easy one
was removed completely and 95% of the hard one was removed.
Although they both had tumors, they were not very large, maybe
the size of a pea. In the past my vet has shown me removed
adrenal tumors from other patients that were the size of
tennis balls. Almost immediately, Odo's fur grew back and his
agression stopped. His weight has also gone up from 2 1/2lbs
to 3 3/4 lbs. My vet checked him out and felt the increased
weight was exclusively fat. He could feel no tumors, large
spleen, etc. He is back to his old self, except for the
leakage. My vet suggested that, perhaps, there was still some
infection in his prostate and provided another regimen of
Baytril. However, I would be pleased to hear if any other
ferrets have this problem and if it was fixed. Many thanks.
