It is with much sadness that I too can vouch that people need to be
testing their ferrets before being around other ferrets. We keep
seeing cases of ADV show up in Oregon shelters every too frequently.
It is heart breaking to see young ferrets showing up with this
terrible disease. But what is even sadden is to realize that they
have been out in the public around others. The test is not invasive
and not that expensive! So please do the ferret community a favor
and test your ferrets. Don't become like the F&G in California and
think your are exempt from ADV. IT IS EVERYWHERE! If you haven't
tested, then you can count yourself among one of those that is
stupidly spreading the disease. Nothing is sadder than having an 8
month old die in your arms from this hideous disease.
