Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Re: knowledge on neurological
problems
Hi,
I have written before, but don't have answers yet.
I'm interested, too. Katharine: Where is this vet
you are talking about?
My Chip has neurological problems, like Victoria's
does. About a month ago, he woke up with no hind end
mobility. A week ago, he aquired a urine infection.
Just 2-days into feeling bad, his front legs got stiff
and he wouldn't use them. He's on Pred,1ml 2x daily
for 10 days, and Batril .5ml 2x daily. He spend the
weekend in the hospital ($$!) Now he's home, but we
need to do everything for him, including expressing
his bladder. For how long, we don't know. He acts
like he wants to move around, moves one leg or the
other but can't get them to go together in order to
get somewhere. The vet told me to take xrays would
not necessarily show the problem. If it doesn't she'd
still treat with Pred. If it does, it may or may not
require surgery. We just keep going on. This vet
sees ferrets, says she has for about 12 years. I'm at
a loss. He's not ready to give up, neither am I.
I hope someone has an answer for all of us with this
sort of problem.
You are correct, they are expensive pets, but it
wouldn't seem so, if they got better, right?
Thank you,
Krystal
