Hi Victoria,
I too have a little girl with neurological problems that arose from
severe abuse when she was a kit (by a prior owner - not me). She was
kicked and thrown against walls and many other horrible things from 8-
10 weeks old. Anyway, Hope never had neurological testing done, but
shows all the signs of having neuro problems such as severe head
tilting, major balance problems, and the stiffness and shaking
(especially when scared). She also used to have problems with
incontenence and losing her bowels as well. I believe that she
couldn't feel herself going because it would just come out as she'd
be running across my floor.

Anyway, without knowing Stinky's past, it is very possible that he
was abused or neglected by his prior owner. It is also possible that
he sustained an injury while being out loose. Perhaps the stress
from his former life is still scaring him.

In Hope's case, she never required any medications - just a LOT of
patience. She turned two years old today and I've had her for 1 1/2
years. She still gets stiff and shakey when unfamiliar people
interact with her - or when we go to the vet's or someplace outside
of her room. But when she's home, she's gotten very secure and
loose - not stiff - and outside of the cage, is kinda good about
staying in the vicinity of the litter pans when she needs to use them.

Hope will probably always be special, but it's nice to know that
she's outgrown (or overcome)some of the problems. I hope for the
same outcome with your Stinky. Patience and love really seemed to
help my little girl.
I'm so proud of you for giving Stinky a second chance. He is a lucky
guy and sure did find a great person to help him.
