Subject: Very Sick Ferret PLEASE HELP
My ferret (Frank, 3 yrs old) had a very distended belly this morning
and was extrememly lethargic. I rushed him to the vet who took xrays
and found no obtructions or foriegn objects. His stomach and bowels
are filled with air but no fluid. He has had a lot of gas lately - I
changed his food about 2 months ago - but no diareha or vomiting. He
seemed fine yesterday but today he was not able to climb into his
hammock and was just laying on the floor. They are taking blood to
run tests, putting him on IV fluids but said he may not make it long
enough for them to find out what it is. I am not at all sure that my
vet knows what he is doing. I live in a rather small town in
Montana. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?
