Subject: hairballs
Last night Eros vomited 2 hairballs (more like logs) with a bit of blood.
That's the first time I've seen them vomit hairballs. I called our vet
as I was dosing him with pepto to coat and soothe his sore tummy and
throat. The hair logs were 1 inch and 2 1/2 inches long. Our vet
suggested we continue the pepto and also give carafate. I'm concerned
about esophagus damage and why he vomited them up. Anyone with experience
with this? I'm concerned there might be more in the stomach, or was this
all? I did try cat lax as well but he wouldn't have any of it so tonight
I'll work with him on drinking it (I'll mix it with warm water and syringe
it to him - he did take the pepto well and looked around for more).
I felt silly calling our vet for this reason but goodness it was the first
time. I saved the hairlogs for him to see when we go in. Eros is eating
but seems very tired....
hugs to all. tle
