Last night, he had only his rabies shot. I premedicated with
Benadryl
and waited after the vaccination. After 15 min.,he began to
vomit/diarrhea. He was given 4 injections, oxygen and IV fluids.
Again, he was ok, but it took longer for him to come around this
time. He was scheduled to get the new distemper shot next week,
but
the vet said not to vaccinate him anymore. She feels that it's too
risky. I want to do what's best for Rascal and I really am afraid
to
go through that again. What are your thoughts?
I would consider vaccinating against distemper. So far both of his
reactions have involved rabies vaccine, and often ferrets that have
a problem with one will not have a problem with the other.
Pretreat, of course.
