Subject: Surgery Adrenal/Insuloma

My 5-6 year old male rescue has had multiple health issues. He's definitely
adrenal, but also had very unstable diabetes for a few months which has now
subsided. He was really ill and the vet and I decided against surgery, both
because of his unknown age and poor health, and because I lost his brother
three years ago just after "successful" surgery and he was in much better
shape pre-op.
My vet has said that in her limited experience diabetic ferrets correct and
then become insulomic. I'm treating the adrenal right now with Lupron (1mg
per month) and he has responded amazingly well. His gotten thinner since
he's off the insulin but seems much better then he has been in over a year
(dancin' and getting into trouble). My question is: If I do go for the
surgery, can they take out the adrenal(s) and part of the pancreas at the
same time? Would that be too much or might it improve his long term
survival? I know if I'm going to do this I have to move while he's feeling
better, but frankly I'm scared to death!
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Cay
