Subject: Infected anal glands and vaginal discharge?

My 7 month old Marshal Farms girl seems to have impacted and infected
anal glands. They have burst right through , seeping, etc. My ferret is on
Baytril for now. The vet is hoping we can take care of this with
antibiotics. My question is even if we get this cleared up, will this
reoccur ? I mean she supposedly is descented Which means she isn't supposed
to have those glands right? Also, the dark yellow puss that can be extracted
from her vagina,,, is this related? Can the infection travel like that? I"m
worried about whether she might have complications, etc.
So far she has no fever, eats, poops, plays, drinks, all normally. If
there could be other things wrong, or something else complicating this could
someone let me know. If she should have surgery no matter what let me know.
The vet doesn't like doing surgery on something like this... is he right to
be so conservative?
