Well, a vet that is willing to listen to you and learn isn't all that
bad. Unfortunately it sounds like yours doesn't even know where to
begin. Perhaps one of the vets on the list can comment on how close
ferret care is to "typical" dog and cat care and whether this is
sufficient for the basics.
What you may want to do is find a good ferret vet willing to consult
and have your vet contact them as needed. A consulting vet only has
to be a phone call away, so could be anywhere in the country. We
can't name names around here, but I know there are some who do this.
Of course, should surgery ever be required, you probably don't want
this vet doing it. You may want to look for another vet for this, or
check to see if your local emergency clinics have ferret surgeons, or
even consider flying to a good consulting vet.
Looking for another vet with more ferret experience isn't a bad idea,
and if your current vet is reasonable, he should understand. But
don't sell the relationship you and Bria Anne already have with him
short. His first-hand knowledge of Bria Anne's history is important,
too.
