Subject: [Ferret-Health-list] For Dr Murray -- re Lupron in Australia
Australia

Hi

I also have two female ferrets that have an adrenal tumor. Neither one is a good candidate for surgery. As far as Lupron goes, its to expensive. My husband was laid off and I am the only one working.

I therefore had to do some research. I now have my two girls on melatonin. The ferret dose is one mg. I have them on a 1mg tablet and give them the melatonin nine hours after sunrise as that is supposed to be the best and most effective time. Its only been a week, but Precious, one of my female ferrets, felt warm to the touch. The heat feels less. I wish you luck

Sincerely

Ivy

Hi Dr Murray

Many thanks for your input re Fidget.

I have made enquiries and found that we don't have
Lupron for ferrets here in Australia.

Apparently we could get a human-size tablet, but there
was a problem getting any pharmacist to divide it into
the tiny ferret doses.

I hate to ask, but have you any other
suggestions/ideas/opinions which I could pass on to my
vet since treatment with Lupron is out of the
question.
