Hi Diane,
My vet put my little guy on 0.5ML of Casodex given once daily to tide
him over until his surgery. He was straining to urinate and was a
bit aggressive with my other ferrets. It helped his straining for
those few days. Casodex seems to help fairly quickly with some of
the signs of adrenal disease, but doesn't always work.

Dr Charlie Weiss has a webpage with information on medical treatments
for adrenal disease including the Casodex. For just a couple weeks,
some of the treatments probably won't work because two weeks might
not give it enough time to kick in, but the Casodex seems to help
with straining right away. The site is:
