Subject: Giardia or yeast?
I'm the person who posted years ago about how to tell the difference between
yeast and Giardia in a stool sample. I have seen many Veterinarians and
technicians call the normal yeast in the ferrets food Giardia. I recommend
anytime someone tells you your ferret has Giardia (a very rare parasite in
ferrets) to have them crush some of your ferrets dry food and mix a little
with water and look at it on a slide under the microscope and they will see
the yeast which resemble Giardia cysts somewhat.
